IPHC is accepting bids for the positions of
announcer, show secretary and ringman for the 2012 show year,
along with show photographer at the Memorial Day Classic and
State Show. Please submit your bids to Earl Vold
(evold@netins.net) by
February 15th.
Dean Furness (husband of Deonne Furness, dad of Raigen, Angelina and Taylar
Furness and son-in-law of Elaine Peterson) sustained severe back injury in a
farm accident. He has undergone surgery to stabilize his back, but has no
feeling in the lower part of his body. He has been moved out of CCU to the
Powell Center. Cards and well wishes may be sent to Dean at 569 Powell
Center, Iowa Methodist Medical Center, 1200 Pleasant Street, Des Moines, IA,
50309. E-cards may also be sent through the hospital's website at:
www.iowahealth.org .
Our show secretary will be accepting
pre-entries for the shows this year! PLEASE NOTE the
office fee has been increased to $15.00 per horse. However,
if you pre-enter, you will save $5.00, thereby paying an office
fee of $10.00. To pre-enter, simply click on the entry form,
print it, complete it and scan and email it to Cindy Westphal at
the email address on the form. When you get to the show, you
simply go to the office, check your entries and leave your blank
check for payment. Deadline for pre-entries is the Wednesday
immediately preceding the show. If you have any questions,
please call Cindy Westphal at the phone number listed on the
form.
Please Pre-Register Stalls for all
Cedar Rapids Shows
The Iowa Equestrian Center (IEC) will be locking all stalls
except ones that have been pre-registered. The pre-registered
stalls will be unlocked with two bags of bedding (more bedding
if requested). If you do not pre-register your stalls with the
show manager, when you get to the show you will need to find an
IEC staff person to unlock your stalls and deliver your bedding.
When IEC unlocks a stall, they will consider that a full stall
fee even if someone only uses that stall for the day and cleans
the stall out before they leave. They do not consider that to be
a jump out. A jump out fee is where someone is working out of
their trailer and they do not get to use the stalls or wash
racks. Please call or email the show manager to let them know
how many stalls you would like so your stalls will be unlocked
with shavings when you arrive at the show. This will save you
time and frustration when you get to the show!
Green Western Pleasure and Green Hunter
Under Saddle have been added to the IPHC class list for 2011!
It is the Board’s hope that these classes will be a nice
addition to the shows and will not take entries away from the
Jr. and Sr. Western Pleasure and Open Hunter Under Saddle
classes. Please continue to support the Jr. and Sr. Western
Pleasure and Open Hunter Under Saddle classes so that the Green
classes can stay on the class list in the future.

In addition, Amateur Walk Trot Western Pleasure and Amateur Walk
Trot Western Horsemanship have been added to the class list for
2011. If you plan on participating in these walk trot classes,
you must have the appropriate card from APHA. Also, please be
sure to read and understand the rules concerning these classes.

ATTENTION ALL STALLION
OWNERS
JOIN THE IPHC BREEDERS FUTURITY
COMMITTEE, IN COOPERATION WITH THE
IPHC BOARD OF DIRECTORS, AS THEY DO THEIR PART IN GOING GREEN.
THE CHANGES LISTED BELOW ARE EFFECTIVE AUGUST
1, 2009,
AND ARE BEING MADE TO REDUCE EXPENSES AND
INCREASE ACCESSIBILITY TO OUR FUTURITY.
1. As a stallion owner, you will no longer receive a legal size
3-part stallion owner contract and a copy of the rules by mail
in the fall. Instead, past participating stallion owners, and
potential new participants, will be notified by postcard.
2. The contract and applicable rules will be available on the
IPHC website for you to download, complete and return to Laurie
Bates by the deadline date. Laurie’s address is 18641 Concord
Ave., Wellsburg, IA, 50680-7615.
3. If you do not have access to a computer, you may contact
Laurie Bates at 515-290-6085 to have a contract and the
applicable rules mailed to you.
Your IPHC Breeders Futurity Committee members welcome and
respect any comments, questions, concerns or ideas you may have.
Please feel free to contact one of the gals to share your
thoughts. The committee members’ numbers are posted on the
website and are contained in the newsletter.
Please be sure to read the Show Rules
and Regulations posted as Membership Rules in the Membership
tab, which were revised March, 2009. The main change and
point of interest is number 5 under Requirements for Year-End
Awards. Please note that to be eligible for a year-end award, a
horse must be shown in the class to a minimum of one-half of the
judges offered PLUS must show at a minimum of three weekend
shows. In other words, showing at only the Memorial Day Classic
and State Show will not qualify for a year-end award. This
change was implemented to prevent an exhibitor from coming only
to IPHC's two biggest shows and being able to receive a year-end
award without supporting at least one smaller show. If you have
questions, please feel free to contact one of the Board members.
