Congratulations to IPHC Member Tiffany Payne on receiving the
$1,000 Farnam Breeders’ Trust Youth Scholarship! And thanks to
Tiffany for selecting IPHC as the regional club to receive $500
from Farnam to fund an outreach program. Following is the
announcement that was sent out by APHA.

and novice youth exhibitors of APHA Breeders’ Trust horses
eligible for $1,000
FORT
WORTH—One important facet of the partnership between the
American Paint Horse Association (APHA) and corporate partner
Farnam Horse Products is the Breeders’ Trust Youth Scholarship.
Early on, Farnam set into motion the scholarship program to
support the youth of APHA, promote the Breeders’ Trust program,
and encourage APHA regional clubs to create outreach programs to
local equine youth groups by way of two $1,000 scholarships
annually.
American
Junior Paint Horse Association (AjPHA) members received an
“entry” into the Farnam Breeders’ Trust Youth Scholarship every
time they showed a Breeders’ Trust-nominated horse in APHA youth
or novice youth classes between April 1, 2012 and March 31,
2013. Entries accumulated per judge, per class.
In it’s
first year, APHA tallied 61,941 total entries for the
scholarship. As per the program rules, entries were divided into
two groups: one for entries from youth classes, and the other
for entries from novice youth classes. One recipient was chosen
at random by computer from each group for a $1,000 Farnam
scholarship. Each winner then selects an APHA regional club of
their choice, which receives $500 from Farnam to fund an
outreach program to local youth equine programs.
Tiffany
Payne of Cedar Falls, Iowa, was the Novice Youth recipient.
Tiffany is a 20-year-old college sophomore. She has been
attending a local community college with plans to attend Iowa
State University in the fall in pursuit of an architectural
degree. She earned her points toward the Farnam Breeders’ Trust
Youth Scholarship riding I Go Scotch Alot, a 2005 sorrel overo
mare by Alotta Charisma out of Scotchs Lil April (QH), who is
nominated to the Breeders’ Trust. Tiffany’s regional club of
choice to receive the $500 from Farnam is the Iowa Paint Horse
Club.
Anne-Marie Fortenberry of Farmerville, Louisiana, was the Youth
recipient. Anne-Marie is a 16-year-old high school student with
college in her not-so-distant future. She earned points toward
the random drawing for the Farnam Breeders’ Trust Youth
Scholarship riding A Good Intention, who is a Breeders’
Trust-nominated 2006 bay overo gelding by A Good Machine (QH)
out of Sensational Melody. The regional club of her choice to
receive the additional $500 from Farnam is the Louisiana Paint
Horse Club.
The
Farnam Breeders’ Trust Youth Scholarship sweepstakes program is
administered and implemented through the American Paint Horse
Foundation.
Scholarships for the 2013-2014 show season will be gathered from
all eligible entries from April 1, 2013 through March 31, 2014.
AjPHA members showing Breeders’ Trust-nominated horses in Youth
or Novice Youth classes earn one entry per class per judge at
every APHA-approved show where they exhibit.
